Beach and Coastal Walks
Farr and Torrisdale Bay surround the village and are a great day out to walk, explore with the kids or have a dook in the water. Both beaches are popular with surfers.
There is lots of wildlife about - otters, badgers, pine martens, fox and in the water you may see seals, dolphins, porpoise, orca and we even had a walrus a few years back.
Oh and not to forget the jelly fish.
If you would prefer a guided tour the why not contact A Far North Naturalist who can take you on specific walks and sites of interest around Sutherland
Forest Walks
Approx 6 miles west of Bettyhill is Borgie Forest, there is two entrances to the forest, the closest one will have you walking a lovely circular route where you will find "The Unknown" an amazing Skeleton Sculpture by Kenny Hunter.
Red Deer roam the forests and buzzards are regularly seen flying above. A super walk to stretch the legs after a long day driving.
North Coast Leisure Centre
Just a short walk from the campsite, next to the school is a Public Swimming Pool, Gymnasium, Spa and Sauna facility. This is a great amenity to have in the village and tourists are always welcome. Check out their Facebook page here for opening hours.
Towels and swimwear can be hired from The Store Bistro Bar or children's swimwear can be purchased from The Clachan Cafe, call them here. Googles and other swimming accessories can be purchased at the pool.
Surfing
Surfing is popular here on the north coast and both beaches either side of Bettyhill fit the bill. Coast to Coast Surf School visit Bettyhill twice a year and offer Surf Camps. Check out their website Coast to Coast for more information
